Michael Bodinsky, Executive Director, Local 112–Region II
Michael Bodinsky worked his way through college as a member of LIUNA and earned his B.S. in 1974. Bodinsky was hired as the CFO of a specialized electronics company. During his tenure there, he earned his MBA and law degree as an evening student at Duquesne University. After passing the bar examination, Bodinsky became the general counsel of the Federation of Independent Salaried Unions.
As general counsel, Bodinsky presented labor law cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd and 4th Circuits as well as having had an appeal submitted to the United States Supreme Court. He was also responsible for contract negotiations and arbitration for the Union.
In 2002, Bodinsky was hired by OPEIU Local 112 as its Executive Director. In this capacity, Bodinsky is the chief operating officer of the statewide local union. In addition to administrative duties, he is the chief spokesperson for all statewide contract negotiations. He also handles all of the federal and state labor board charges and presents all arbitration cases.
Bodinsky is also a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education’s Health Care Cost Containment Council, which oversees the healthcare plan for all state system employees. In 2014, Bodinsky was appointed as one of the union trustees for the Pennsylvania Employees Benefit Trust Fund. This fund is responsible for the healthcare benefits for all Commonwealth of Pennsylvania employees.
Bodinsky was elected as an International vice president of Region II at the 27th OPEIU Convention.
